Drywall repair, it's a pain, it's time consuming and it just never comes out the way you'd like it to. Below we have listed a few products which can take out some of the frustration in making dreaded drywall repairs. All of the images have links to the associated web sites for more detailed information.

Fast Patch and its related products are tape based. They are designed to be used on repairs that are 3 inches in diameter or smaller. Simply apply the patch to the affected area and paint. They come in both smooth and textured surfaces.

Wall patches like this come in various sizes and have a thin metal plate which is covered by an adhesive mesh material. After applying the patch you would use joint compound to smooth and completely cover the effected area. These are easy to use and make for quick repairs the only headache here is that you need joint compund.

The Bear Claw Drywall Repair Clip is an exceptional product for larger repairs. They are easy to use and make a more permanent repair. This product is great for holes that are 3 inches in diameter or larger. The only drawback here is that they do require joint tape and joint compound. But if you don't mind getting your hands a little dirty and want a good permanent fix then give these a try.

So you've covered the hole applied the joint compound and have a surface that stands out like a sore thumb because it does'nt match the rest of the wall.

Spray Texture, it's great stuff and really works. This product comes in two versions oil based and water based. I use this product quite often and have found that the oil based version works better. What I have found is that the water based formula flattens out more as it's drying and the oil based formula seems to hold it's texture resulting in a better repair.

When applying the texture use really short quick bursts over the area and you will achieve a great match.

Joint Compound can be purchased as a premixed ready to use product or in powder form that requires mixing to get the right consistency. The powder form does have advantages in that you can purchase it with different drying times.

Before applying any joint compound make sure that you have a nice smooth consistency. Most premixed products require mixing and thinning with a little water to achieve a good workable consistency.

Do Not Put It On Thick, When Applying Joint Compound Thin Is In.
